The contribution of women in the Southern musical tradition has been considerable over time. It is no exaggeration to say that the contribution of women has been a great support to the development of the art world. Beyond the mere development of the art tradition, women have played a significant role in nurturing the uniqueness of the culture while preserving the character of the arts. Historically, the role of women in the art traditions nurtured in the Tamil language has been significant over time.It can be seen that the role of women was high in the Kooththar traditions and Paanar traditions in Sangam period. In this situation, they have been highly nurtured by those in power and have become important in governance.en_US
